The Chartered Marketer (South Africa) gives professional recognition to marketers in South Africa. The status is awarded once the candidate fulfils a set of rigorous criteria established by marketing subject matter experts.
The Services SETA, as education and training quality assuror (ETQA) for marketing in South Africa, is currently the custodian of the designation.
It offers two levels of professional recognition, namely that of Chartered Marketer and that of Marketing Practitioner.
The Chartered Marketer recognition allows you to include the letters CM (SA). This level shows that you have demonstrated mastery of marketing at a strategic level. Generally you would need over 10 years marketing experience to earn this designation.
If you are a Marketing Practitioner, you can add the letters MP (SA) after your name. This level recognises practical marketing competence at a technical/operational level, and requires three to five years of practical marketing experience.
The designations are also recognised on an international level with the European Marketing Confederation (EMC) which includes 17 countries.
